James E. Fragetta was born and raised in northern New Jersey. He graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in biology and, subsequently, worked in the clinical research division of the pharmacology department at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. Fragetta received his medical degree form the University of Tennessee and moved to Baltimore in 1990 to do his pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins. Since completing the chief residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1995, Dr. Fragetta has been practicing pediatrics in the Baltimore metropolitan region, joining the Maryland Pediatric Group in November of 1999.
Dr. Fragetta was inducted into the Distinguished Teaching Society of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine on March 8, 2017. This is an incredible honor, and a very competitive process that distinguishes him as .Best of the Best. among thousands of clinician educators at Hopkins.
